The
Baskets
All our baskets are made with local materials using ancient handed down techniques. We value the fact that all these baskets are handmade, take hours to create, and are an expression of the artisan who made it.
The core of the basket is made with a banana stalk to keep the sturdiness and it gives strength. This is then covered by the softer raffia (which is dyed in Azo-free dyes) and gives the luxurious finished look of the baskets.
“I work from home and when I get an order, I buy the raw materials from the market on Friday, on Saturday I dye it, Sunday I am off and by Monday I'm ready to start weaving.”

Basket weaver, Nsambya Kirombe Uganda
Our baskets are woven by women for which the work is crucial for their independence and the income supports their livelihoods - it helps bring up their children and pay for school fees, take care of their parents, and working from home means they can take care of the family while working.
