Every Matcha Whisk Holder is a testament to time-honored craftsmanship. Hand-shaped by Ugandan artisans using age-old pottery techniques, each piece develops its own distinctive iridescent markings during the firing and natural oxidation process—making every holder one of a kind. Pair it with the Match Bowl or other pieces from the MUKAKASA collection to create an artful tea ritual that celebrates beauty, heritage, and the handmade.
STORY
Our pottery is made in a workshop located in Mukono, Uganda crafted by local artisans and craftspeople. It celebrates ancient traditions handed down through generations creating future heirlooms to be cherished, used, and admired for generations to come.It is made by the method of throwing clay on the potters wheel. This process include the turning and shaping, drying, cleaning and applying designs by hand painting, burnishing and two stages of firing. The final stage is the cleaning with water which reveals our products beautiful personal character.

With proper care, MUKAKASA ceramics are designed to last a lifetime. Each piece is dishwasher safe but not suitable for microwave use. As every item is handmade from natural clay, slight variations in shape, tone, and finish are natural and celebrated as part of the craftsmanship. Over time, and with regular use, each piece will develop its own individual patina, reflecting its unique character and history.
